Croxden Parish Council

with Beamhurst, Great Gate and Fole

It is great to see the Parish Press back up and running. Since the last report in this magazine there have been some changes to the Council. Chairman Marion Kent retired from office in April after many years of service, Marianne James welcomed onto the Council and Paul Bean took the Chair. Bi monthly meetings have continued through 2020, minutes posted on the notice boards at Croxden, Beamhurst and Great Gate and, if you missed those, all back copies can be found on the website. Guy Chesney Collins launched Help My Neighbours Facebook page providing a local connect up to help us all through the covid pandemic, link to be found on front page Croxden PC website, do take a look.

The first PC meeting of this year was held on Wednesday 13th January 2021.

Work continues on improving parish footpaths and walking experience for local residents. Maintenance has been carried out on a number of stiles and will continue in the spring. Four suggested circular walks have been identified, see Photos and Maps section of website. Information includes length of time it is likely to take to complete from a 28 minute stroll to 5 hours walking the perimeter of the Parish. Appropriate maintenance is being organised for the historic Whipping Post at Great Gate and a bench has been provided for you to take a rest by the Silent Soldier in the car park at Croxden Church. As so many parishioners have enjoyed walking, cycling and being out around our villages over recent months, the Parish Council resolved to continue this work and want your help to record wildlife sightings. We would like to create an ongoing log of wild plants and animals that you see whilst out and about in the parish to display on the Parish Council Website and notice boards. We hope to produce a spot list to take on walks when sufficient information is gathered. If you did the Big Garden Bird Watch in January you might like to send us your results. Watch out for Roe Deer spotted in Great Gate Woodland recently, Field Fares and Great Spotted Woodpecker on Hollington Lane. We look forward to hearing from you. The next Parish Council Meeting will take place on Zoom on Wednesday March 10th at 7pm. It is very easy to attend, instructions are provided on the agenda published a week before each meeting. Join by phone if you don’t use the internet. We would love to hear from you.

Warm regards from your Councillors Paul, Nick, John, Marianne and Jackie
